K. Matthew Dames is the Associate University Librarian for Scholarly Resources and Services for Georgetown University Library, where he leads 5 departments, 3 branch libraries, principal and special collections, and nearly 35 information professionals in the Library's largest division. Dr. Dames was Chair of the Library's Steering Committee on Presidential Working Group Initiatives, which was charged in February 2017 with “present[ing] a compelling overall strategy that details resources the Library needs to help the University become world leaders in slavery, memory and reconciliation; racial justice, and African and African-American studies.” Dr. Dames also was lead author on the Steering Committee's report, issued in Fall 2017 to President DeGioia and Provost Groves.
